Lavender Eye Pillows

Lavender is a wonderful herb known for it's gentle purple tones, soothing scent and it's ability to aid relaxation and sleep. 


What is a Lavender eye pillow?

A lavender eye pillow is a small pillow weighted with a grain (usually rice, flaxseed or wheat) that also contains dried lavender flowers.

Some people find the weight of the pillow helps aid relaxation when placed over the eyes.



What are the benefits of using a Lavender eye pillow?

 Lavender is a beautifully scented herb well known for is soothing and cooling qualities which makes them ideal for:

  • aiding relaxation
  • relieving anxiety, stress and tension
  • aiding restful sleep
  • improving mood
  • relieving headaches
  • relieving minor aches and pains



How do you use a Lavender eye pillow?

The eye pillow can be used as it is and placed over the eyes to help with relaxation and meditation or when practicing Savasana as part of a yoga session.

Some people experience relief from headaches when they place a Lavender eye pillow over their eyes or forehead when experiencing a headache.

The Lavender eye pillow can also be used for cold or heat therapy if desired.

The Lavender eye pillow can be used for heat therapy to relieve eye strain, for deep relaxation, to ease muscle tension  and for a few minutes before going to sleep to improve sleep quality. To heat the Lavender eye pillow, place it on a place and either put in a warm place such as a low oven or on top of a warm radiator for a couple of minutes to warm up. It can also be gently heated on a plate in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. The pillow should be slightly warm to the touch before using and not hot. Care should be taken to make sure that the pillow is not hot before use to avoid the burns.

The pillow can also be used for cold therapy to help relieve tension, headaches and tired eyes. Place the pillow in a sealable bag and chill it in a freezer for about 30 minutes. Be careful to make sure that the eye pillow is chilled and not frozen to avoid injury.



How to take care of your Lavender eye pillow?

The outer cover can be washed at 30 degrees. Cool iron.

Wash dark colours separately.

Do not wash the inner filled pillow.

The Lavender scent is long lasting but will eventually begin to fade. To refresh the scent a few drops of Lavender essential oil can be added to the surface of the inner filled pillow and the pillow plumped. Do not apply essential oils to the outer cover.
